Preparing for the show in Knoxville, TN

Good evening friends- I hope everyone is doing well on this Valentine's night. I just tucked in my little valentine and got a big kiss goodnight!! Anyway, I wanted to share an ad for the upcoming show in Knoxville, TN we will be at. Please stop and say hello if you are able to make it!! Would love to meet some of my blog followers. We will not be at the show in Nashville but check it out as well if you are in the area. I have got my sewing/crafting area up and running again- so it's time to get back into production. Have already gotten some neat prims ready for the show- and the shop. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Changes are coming!!

Happy first day of February!! I hope everyone is well on this warm winter day!! I wanted to let you know of changes that will be coming to Back Shed. First of all, we will be closing our booth in Gibsonville at the end of Feb. so many items have been marked down. I just added some Valentine goodies as well, so be sure to stop by. Also, we will be re-opening the shop this Spring with a new name- FOUR MEADOWS CABIN. I plan to still offer the best prims, but with some nice additions of vintage, cottage, whimsical and who knows what else?? It's time to lighten things up a bit! This will give folks a broader selection in the shop. We plan to be open by appointment (which I love for folks to do) and occasionally for a special event. I am excited about the changes. The website and the blog will be changing addresses- so I will inform everyone as soon as I get that done. We look forward to the new year and I especially look forward to seeing old friends and new ones as well.

Okay, I just couldn't resist this adorable graphic I found when searching for donkeys. I am really feeling the need this year to lighten and brighten things- not in my house- just in general!! Anyway, I am beginning to get the creative juices flowing again- I hope. Watch for changes coming in the next few weeks and some exciting news regarding our currently closed shop.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Just wanted to say a happy new year to everyone. It has so busy during Christmas this year, seems like I am finally getting a chance to breathe! Watch for updates on the website as well as some changes that will be coming for Back Shed. The shop is still closed, so please be sure to visit my booth at Gibsonville Antiques. I finally got the Christmas tree out last week and fluffed the booth a bit. Many items have been reduced, so be sure to check it out. Keep watching for updates.

A Night in Bethlehem...

This past Sunday night, our church had its first ever NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM. It was a walking tour of the story of Jesus' birth. What a wonderful night it was with all of the participants, the sets, the singing and more. We think around 400 came for this special event. Some folks had to wait an hour to go through, but all said it was worth the wait!! Jared and I were shepherds at the final part- the live nativity. We also had Millie, our mini donkey with us. Everyone loved seeing her. Jared was so cute as the little shepherd boy. It was a special evening and as a family we are teaching our son the true meaning of Christmas!! I hope you are able to take time this season and do special things such as this with your family!! We wish all of you a wonderful Christmas!!

A word about adoption...

Okay friends- I normally would not even post this on my blog but I am to the end of my rope!!! Just a few thoughts on adoption- which we have done. I can't tell you how many times Jared and I have been out and about and total strangers come right up to me and ask"is he adopted??" or how did you get a boy?? Is he Chinese?? Well, friends the answer from now on to any of these or any other ridiculous questions will be "my child can understand every word that you are saying- please do not ask these questions- thank you". I have said that several times already. I just don't understand how folks can be so insensitive!!!!! Why would a perfect stranger walk right up to me and ask things like this when adoption is a very personal family decision. It can also be a traumatic experience for children when people ask questions such as these. We had been waiting to adopt for 3 years and in all of that time, I never once walked up to anyone and asked questions such as this. Even now, when I meet or see moms that may or may not have adopted, I do not approach them with silly questions!! I am sorry to ramble on about this but I just felt the need to vent from my frustration. I try not to be rude but obviously I am going to have to be to stop people from being rude to me and my child. If people say, he is so cute, etc. that's all that is needed to be said. Thanks for listening and have a great week!!
